Challenge Rules / Guidelines
October 2025 - Use fleece or flannel in a project
November 2025 - Make a pillow cover—home dec, bed pillow, etc.
December 2025 - Sew a gift
January 2026 - Organize your sewing room and work on your PhD (Project Half Done)
February 2026 - Use a precut fabric (fat quarter, jelly roll, charm squares, layer cake, etc.)
March 2026 - Make a quilted project, any size, anything!
April 2026 - Upcycle something
May 2026 - Sew a free pattern (tons available on the internet!)
Craft, garment, quilt, etc.
June 2026 - Sew a project using a notion you’ve had more than 2
years but haven’t used
July 2026 - Sew an accessory
August 2026 - Use a new technique
September 2026 - Sew a project for charity—tote for Maryhouse, Purse for Sew Powerful, beds for shelter animals, etc.)
The rules are as follows:
1. Each entry must be a sewing project (knitting, crocheting, etc., are wonderful . . .just not for this challenge)!
2. Entries can be basic sewing, quilting, machine embroidery . . in other words, use the sewing machine to make the project!
3. Only entries completed in their respective months will be eligible for entering into the contest.
4. One entry per month per participant.
5. Must be a member of the Sacramento Chapter of the American Sewing Guild to participate.
6. Each month’s project picture should be sent to
sewistchallenge@asgsacramento.org
by 11:59 pm on the last day of that month.
7. Winner to be announced at our Annual Meeting in the fall. Winner need not be present at the Annual Meeting to win, but we would love to see everyone there!
8. The winner receives a $100 gift card.
